How to Style a Scarf Five Ways
Hi friends,
Winter has returned to Paris after a brief week of fairly warm weather. As I write, my fingers feel like frozen popsicles and I have a baby pink neck warmer slowly growing colder as we speak.
Personally, I find dressing for winter to be tiresome as it becomes more of a means of functionality rather than style. It’s true of course that winter fashion can be glamorous, chic, and incredibly luxurious with winter coats being the core staple of any style-saavy girl’s wardrobe, but with the piles of layers, gloves, scarves, and socks I find dressing for winter to be repetitious and occasionally boring.
So to cure my winter blues, I created a winter guide with five ways to style a chunky scarf. Note, I’m fully aware that the outfit I paired my guide with is highly unpractical for winter but I’ve been loving the low-rise midi skirt trend and I couldn’t resist the opportunity to over-romanticize the look.
Look 1: Opera Shawl
Going to the opera, ballet, or jazz show? This look reminds me of my piano recitals and childhoods Christmas play outfits. Effortlessly chic and completely timeless.
Look 2: Old Hollywood Drama
Reminiscent of old Hollywood glamour, a simple chiffon or silk scarf will do. Note, a heavier scarf will stay in place better but you can always wrap your scarf around your neck a few times for more security.
Look 3: Poncho
The wider and longer the scarf the better. Start by wrapping the scarf around your neck then criss-crossing both ends of the scarf over your chest and tuck in the corners.
Look 4: Baklava
The biggest winter knitwear trend are baklavas. With endless ways to style and an effective way to stay warm, baklava styled scarves are a fashionable way to survive the winter. All the cool girls are doing it.
Look 5: The Stole
Add just a little bit of drama by draping your favorite chunky scarf over one shoulder. It completely elevates the outfit and you’ll have an extra layer to be warmer on the go. Add a belt to help the scarf stay in place.
As always, thank you so much for taking the time to read my latest blog post! With Men’s Fashion Week now in full swing, I’ve been loving the latest men’s looks by Saint Laurent and Givenchy. I’m so excited to see next week Haute Couture shows by some of my favorite maisons: Schiaparelli, Iris Van Herpen, Chanel, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Elie Saab. Which shows are you looking foward to? Let me know in the comments section down below.
xx
