Meet Pauline

French designer Pauline Bareyt debuts her first collection, the epitome of modern Parisian style.

Sit down, grab a cozy drink of your choosing, and go on airplane mode while I talk fashion, design, and vintage fashion with Pauline.

We met through my French friend Marion who was only the second friend I made when I moved to Paris. She introduced me to Pauline who asked me to model for the launch of her first collection.

Designer. Fashion Entrepreneur. Vintage Enthusiast.

“I draw a lot of inspiration from where I come from. I grew up with the ocean, the beaches, the sun. I want people to see through my clothes the lightness that one can feel in the south.”

— Pauline

Who are you?

“My name is Pauline Bareyt, and I am a fashion designer. I come from the South West of France and I attended the Esimode fashion school in Toulouse.”

How old are you?

“I am 23 years old.”

When did you start designing fashion?

“I have always been passionate about fashion, my grandmother loved it and passed on this love for fashion to me. I followed a basic school curriculum and took sewing lessons on the side. It was at the end of high school that I headed to fashion school. And it was really at that moment that I knew that later I wanted to create my own clothing brand.”

What is the inspiration for your fashion creations/collections (design, aesthetic, feel)?

“I draw a lot of inspiration from where I come from. I grew up with the ocean, the beaches, the sun. I want people to see through my clothes the lightness that one can feel in the south. I really like minimalism and I also get a lot of inspiration from it. I'm a simple person who appreciates the little pleasures in life, so I try to mix all that to have timeless clothes that everyone can wear while adding details that stand out from the others.”

Where is your collection produced? Tell us about the production process?

“I think, imagine, and design my collections on my own then I work with an agency “mon défilé” based in Paris. They take care of all my production where they work with partner factories in Europe, each of which has its own specificities and is checked regularly in order to guarantee optimal quality and working conditions meeting international labor and environmental standards. Then my clothes are stored with my logistician partner at the agency who is also based in Toulouse. They take care of all orders placed on the merchant site. (Packaging, shipping, return).”

What is your favorite piece from the collection?

“The question is not that simple, but if I had to choose one piece it would be the sweater. I like to be comfortable in what I wear, I think it's the perfect piece to feel comfortable and elegant at the same time.”

What is your favorite item of clothing or accessory that you have recently purchased?

“An Yves Saint Laurent blazer that I found in a thrift store in Paris. I love it, I wear it all the time, the details are crazy.”

If you could buy anything, what fashion item would you dream of owning?

“The Hermès Birkin may be a bit cliché to say that but it’s the bag of my dreams.”

What accounts on IG do you follow for inspiration?

“I follow a lot of fashion accounts such as Vogue, Paris Fashion Week but also designers such as Jacquemus who is one of my favorites. I find out about all the new products and fashion shows to help me find some of my inspiration.”
